TOLES Examination
Test of Legal English Skills (TOLES) is the first international examination, created by a group of Legal English experts after years of consultations with legal practitioners. It is recognized by a number of universities, international organizations and institutions like: The Law Society of England and Wales, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Europejski Bank Centralny, or Siemens.
TOLES can now be taken at three levels:
TOLES Foundation (A2-B1) lasts one hour and 30 minutes; two skills are tested: writing
TOLES Higher (B1-B2) lasts 2 hours; three skills are tested: reading, writing and listening.
TOLES Advanced (B2-C1) lasts 2 hours; two skills are tested: writing and reading.
The following aspects should be taken into consideration while preparing for this exam: the knowledge of terminology and a sensitivity to use of register in the following general areas:

EXAM RESULTS
TOLES Foundation & TOLES Higher
Candidates’ results for the TOLES Foundation and the TOLES Higher examinations are expressed as a percentage score; however there is no pass or fail mark.
The four bands are:
TOLES Advanced
As far as the grading scale is concerned, six levels are displayed for the TOLES Advanced which start from a very low proficiency (GREEN 0-100) up to an advanced level of proficiency (GOLD 451-500).
