On March 19, 2025, the lecture on AI and misinformation was delivered by Adam Zagórecki, PhD - an expert in the field of artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, defense strategies and a scientist at Cranfield University, the United Kingdom Defense Academy.
Adam Zagórecki, PhD specializes in the use of AI in the security and defense sector. He conducts lectures in the area of cybersecurity and artificial intelligence, as well as in leadership programs. He worked at the University of Pittsburgh, Carnegie Mellon University, HRL Laboratories and Intel Research in Silicon Valley. He has extensive experience in consulting for global corporations, government institutions and start-ups.
The main topic of the lecture was the development of artificial intelligence, which has significantly influenced the configuration of the information ecosystem. It is worth mentioning that personalization algorithms and technologies used by Cambridge Analytica were among the first examples of its influence. Nowadays, due to generative language models (LLM) and deepfake technologies, AI is playing an increasingly important role in creating and spreading misinformation.
During the lecture, participants also learned about the impact of artificial intelligence on national and economic security and about the role of generative AI in information manipulation, the threats associated with synthetic video content (deepfake), and methods of counteracting disinformation using AI.
