From March 10 to 18, 2025, Emilia Jurgielewicz-Delegacz, PhD from the Department of Criminal Law and Criminology stayed in Denver (USA). During her stay, she participated in the annual conference organized by the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences (ACJS), which took place from March 11 to 15, 2025. At the invitation of Kyle C Ward, PhD from the University of Northern Colorado, Emilia Jurgielewicz-Delegacz, PhD participated in the panel entitled "International Insights into Rural Crime Enforcement and Rural Communities". It was devoted to issues in the field of rural criminology, including empirical and theoretical research on rural crime. Emilia Jurgielewicz-Delegacz, PhD in her speech entitled "Current Status and Issues of Research on Rural Crime in Poland" referred to research conducted as part of the project "Rural Crime in Poland", financed by the National Science Center (2021/43/D/HS5/01645).
During her presentation, she introduced the panel participants to issues related to the sense of security of rural residents, crime in Polish villages, and combating and preventing criminal phenomena. Other papers prepared by scientists from the United States and England were also presented in the panel. The conference was an excellent forum for exchanging views and starting discussions in the field of rural criminology, because it was attended by other well-known scientists dealing with this topic, including: Prof. Joseph F. Donnermeyer, Prof. Walter DeKeseredy, Prof. Gorazd Meško, Prof. James J. Nolan, Prof. Henry Brownstein, Jessica Peterson, PhD and Rok Hacin, PhD.
During her stay in the US, Emilia Jurgielewicz-Delegacz, PhD also conducted library research to obtain English-language studies on rural criminology. For this purpose, she visited two libraries: the Auraria Library (used by students and researchers at three leading academic institutions in Denver: University of Colorado Denver; Metropolitan State University of Denver; and Community College of Denver) and the University Libraries, located on the campus of the University of Colorado.
