Summer School of Comparative EU-US Law
In 2010 University of Bialystok, Faculty of Law in collaboration with the Institute for Comparative Law & Jurisprudence at the Michigan State University College of Law established the Summer School of Comparative EU – US Law. The Summer School is one of two educational programs in Poland that have been accredited by the American Bar Association, marking Bialystok Law Faculty on the map of significant, international initiatives.

What was only a project now is a well-established and renowned educational offer and initiative that fosters and promotes high academic standards in a truly international environment. Students from the civil law system in Poland get a first-hand experience to study American and European Law, alongside students from the United States where common law system applies. It is a unique opportunity to learn by discussing different approaches and various understandings of the legal principles. At the same time, the federal system of the United States is compared with the mechanisms used in the European Union integration mechanisms. Additionally, the program is open to students from other jurisdictions and having them in the classes raises the comparative component to an even higher, significant value.

The program has a strong educational framework that is supported by professionals from the United States and internationally experienced professors from Poland. You can check out our Professional’s profiles at “about us”. All participants are eligible to receive a Michigan State University Diploma, on condition they pass at least 3 of 5 courses available.

The program consists of five classes and runs for 4 weeks.

This year the program offers the following dates and courses:
Sunday, May 24 – Friday, June 19, 2020.

Courses:
• Constitutional Law of the European Union (with a specific emphasis on comparative US-EU Constitutional Law)
• Comparative Human Rights in Eastern and Central Europe
• International Alternative Dispute Resolution
• Comparative Free Expression
• Rule of Law Jurisprudence

The cost of the program is 650 PLN.

The resulting educational experience provides a unique perspective on law, and gives a better understanding of different legal cultures. It is a student event, the social part of the program is of the highest importance and Bialystok offers many opportunities of excellent out-of-the classroom meetings and cultural exchange.

Don’t miss out on a chance of a truly life-changing experience, here in Bialystok.
